Q&A

Here are some answers to question you may have. If you have additional questions, please ask them in the comments section below.

——————————————————————————————————————–

Is there a chance the league will resume in January?

No. The league won’t be ready to resume in the near future and while the Hangar is open, it’s with a limited capacity.

——————————————————————————————————————–

When will I receive a refund?

The Hangar has agreed to send us a refund but it might take some time. Once we receive it we’ll begin the process.

——————————————————————————————————————–

Will the league resume in 2021/22?

At this point in time we don’t know. First and foremost, we need to feel confident in the safety of our players. Secondly, indoor soccer facilities are operating at a limited capacity and there is no indication that this will change in the near future.

2019/20 Season Begins

The sixth season of the Teachers’ Soccer League officially gets underway this evening. The road to the final begins now.

Bluepers vs Quicksilver

Bluepers welcome Millan Mulraine & Sally Li to the league and also have 2 returning players in Alex Lee & Amogh Reddy. Quicksilver welcomes Ryan Turner & Aayush Dureha. Paul Callahan is promising goals this year and has changed his field name to Paul Van Pilstelrooy.

Walter Whites vs sTEAL Your Thunder

Walter Whites boast 4 new players in Aron Sankar, Ragesh Ravindranath, Selena How & Stephen Clement. This also marks the return of Brad Leufkens who took last season off. sTEAL Your Thunder only have one new player and that’s Pak Tsun Wong. Valeria Nunez claims that all that experience makes them heavy, heavy favourites to win the championship.

Pink Panthers vs Red Army

Pink Panthers welcome Gurdeep Singh, Karamullah Talpur & Marcello Pannacione. Red Army has only one new player in Dilraj Singh. They also have a returning Scott Thompson who promises to make it rain.

Sky Eiffel 65 vs Golden Girls

Sky Eiffel welcome Ashton Mugabe & Sunny Patel to the fold. Their opponents are full of new players including Alvin Leung, Boyang Qin, Declan Rowett, Frank Fang & Mustafa Arif. This game also marks the return of Sean “2 goals per game” Kinsella. Will he tear it up like he did a few years ago? That’s the hottest question of week 1.

Oct 9th Preseason Matches

This week’s games will be 6 v 6, please adjust your lineups accordingly. Once again, there will be no referees because this is a preseason match. Please find the schedule below:

6 pm

  • Quicksilver vs Sky Eiffel 65
  • Red Army vs Bluepers

7 pm

  • Walter Whites vs Golden Girls
  • sTEAL Your Thunder vs Pink Panthers

More space on the field will lead to more running which should lead to quicker substitutions.

Preseason Schedule

Welcome to a brand new season of the Teachers’ Soccer League! We have 8 teams competing for glory, with 17 new players joining us in the quest.

We’re trying something new during the preseason. Traditionally we’ve played a 7 v 7 and that’s still what we’ll do for week 1 of the preseason. For week 2, we’re going to try a 6 v 6. This will allow for increased space to play and more running which will in turn lead to more efficient subs. We’ll assess after week 2 before any decisions are made.

Here’s the schedule:

  • October 2nd (7 v 7)
    • 6 pm
      • Bluepers vs Pink Panthers
      • Golden Girls vs sTEAL Your Thunder
    • 7 pm
      • Sky Eiffel 65 vs Red Army
      • Quicksilver vs Walter Whites
  • October 9th (6 v 6)
    • 6 pm
      • Quicksilver vs Sky Eiffel 65
      • Red Army vs Bluepers
    • 7 pm
      • Walter Whites vs Golden Girls
      • sTEAL Your Thunder vs Pink Panthers

See you all on October 2nd!

2018/19 Player Awards

It’s time to hand out player awards for the 2018/19 season. The awards were voted on by the 8 team captains who had to choose between 40 nominations! While there are many worthy winners, we can only pick 1 in each category so here we go.

League Ambassador Award

This award goes to the player who most exemplifies the spirit of the league in everything they do and the winner is Valeria Nunez! What makes Valeria really stand out is the effort she put into recruitment of new players. This helped the league grow to over 100 players with at least a dozen more on the waiting list. Congratulations Valeria!

Most Improved Player

This award goes to the player who most stood out in their development from the prior year and the winner is Hans Wang! His composure on the ball and the calming influence that he had on his teams performance really stood out. He also contributed 6 goals in the Sharks march to the championship match. Congratulations Hans!

Rookie of the Year

This award goes to a player who was new to the league, even if they aren’t new to the game and that player is Vincent Xie! He was a key player for championship winning Crush and a nightmare for opposing defenders. He scored more than half of his teams goals and in a season of many great new players, he stood out the most. Congratulations Vincent!

Golden Gloves Award

This award goes to the top goalkeeper and in a year when all the keepers performed admirably, it was a difficult choice. The winner is Murat Cokgezen! Crush only conceded 30 goals on their way to the championship and that was in large part due to Murat and his 8 clean sheets. A class act on and off the field. Congratulations Murat!

Player of the Year

This award goes to the player who performed at the highest level and that player is Dillon Suresh! He won the golden boot as the league’s top goalscorer with 22 goals in 21 games. In every one of those games he was double or even triple teamed but he played right through it without flinching. When he wasn’t scoring he was setting up his teammates and making everyone around him a better player. Congratulations Dillon!

Thank you to everyone for making this league so much fun. A special thanks is owed to all the captains for their efforts every week, without which we could not have such a great league. With that, it’s time to sign off on the 2018/19 season.
